Who We Are: We are The Freudian Slips Experience. We embrace the wild, weird and wacky spirit of the 505 and infuse it with sultry seduction to create fully curated and custom ecdysiast experiences. Our experiences are more satisfying than a cigar!
The Freudian Slips Experience brings highly curated, custom burlesque and variety experiences to the greater Albuquerque area. Producers Juni Burre Amie, Mimi Mimosa, Violette Femme and Rita Smut have been active in the regional, national and international burlesque community since 2015.
Who You Are: A dynamic, dramatic, theatrical performer that isn’t shy with the audience! A burlesque, circus, belly dance, drag or other variety type performer.
How this will work: Well start with a group number & a “lights out” murder. The dead Railman will become the host, using intros to each act to drop hints and tell the story. There will be more hints and storyline in the programs. Each act will be that character's bio and hint at their possible weapon. The intermission will allow the audience to ask everyone questions (we’ll give them good questions to ask in the programs). The second half will have some vamping, some raffles, maybe a costume contest, and guesses by the audience. We’ll end with a duet of the murder and the final prizes.
Tech Rehearsal: Friday morning. We’ll also provide videos for group numbers and times for video calls to go over everything as a group.
Saturday: We’ll be hosting classes at a local dance studio (TBD) on the Saturday of each weekend. Let us know if you’re interested in teaching.
Out of Towners: We will offer a travel stipend of $100-150 (negotiable) and a room with one of us for the weekend. We are also reaching out to other local productions for Saturday gigs if you want them.
Pay: Let us know what you would expect for the weekend in the application. There will be 1-2 small group numbers, a solo act and audience participation for 2 shows, and a tip split. We generally pay $60-100 per act plus tips, depending on a number of factors, for other shows.
Questions: If you have any questions please feel free to ask any of us! Or email us at freudianslipsabq@gmail.com. You can also check out our website (https://www.freudianslipsabq.com) or follow us on social media (@freudianslipsabq) to see what we’re all about.

Characters: Below is a breakdown of the characters. Let us know which one(s) you like and what you would do with them. All of them can be written into your chosen gender. If you have an idea for a character, we are also game to work with you on that. We can take words and/or videos.
Kincaid, the Railroad Man - the murdered & host
A middle-manager for H&F Railroad, he’s been a company man for over a decade. He has a reputation as a hatchet man who can turn around various branches of the company and has down well.
His work has led him from place to place so quickly and so often he hasn’t had much time to find or start a family, but he has plenty of money, and with no one to spend it on, he splurges on himself. He spends it on nice clothes, top shelf booze, and frequents The Painted Lady to fulfill his need of women and gambling.
He’s of two minds about the railroad’s plans, he would rather not lose his only place of respite, but his lifestyle demands a certain level of income and that’s what drives him.
He’s had interactions with our other players, and all have reason to want him dead.
Madame Catarina - She’s at odds with her because he’s been tasked with buying her land and he’s been rather insistent on that point, despite his personal reluctance.
Alex the Sawyer – they’ve had a contentious relationship ever since Kincaid hired Alex to do some custom carpentry for him but his ever-demanding changes have driven him to the breaking point.
Doctor Laird - Kincaid seduced their daughter while he was working in Denver, lavishing her with honeyed words, lavish gifts, and promises of a future together. Once he left, however, she despaired and ended up in an institution after attempting suicide. Laird wants to repay Kincaid.
Hightower - Kincaid beat Hightower badly in a card game through entirely above board means, but Hightower is convinced he cheated, because Hightower did cheat, still lost, and Hightower cannot abide that.
Raskin - Kincaid got Raskin let go from the railroad as part of a series of cost cutting layoffs. Madame Catarina
Madame Catarina of The Painted Lady -
A tough, no-nonsense woman who will do anything it takes to protect her girls. Anyone is welcome… until they aren’t. If they behave then all is well, but if anyone lays a hand or steps out of line, they’re out, for good. In a casket, if necessary.
She’s an expert at putting on whatever face and playing whatever role she needs in order to get what she wants and make whoever it is think it’s their idea. Kincaid has proven rather resilient in this respect. The power of the corporate bosses cannot be ignored, after all.
Madame Catarina does not entertain the idea of selling the land to the railroad, but she’s not getting any younger either. Her legacy and the future of the Painted Lady are of the utmost importance to her, and she will do whatever it takes to keep her options open, as she has done in the past.
Alex the Sawyer -
A journeyman at the sawmill, Alex has a side business doing small, custom, high quality carpentry projects. Alex knows about Kincaid’s offer to buy the land beneath the Painted Lady; it’s all people are talking about at the Sawmill. The Painted Lady is one of Alex’s main haunts to blow off steam after work and isn’t too fond of the railroad tearing it down. This is where Alex and Kincaid met.
The custom carpentry business is what Alex really wants to do and thought Kincaid’s custom request would be their ticket to kickstarting the enterprise. Kincaid commissioned Alex to make a matching bed frame and night stand a year ago, with intricate carvings adorning both pieces. However, Kincaid has felt Alex’s efforts have not met his demanding standards and might be close to walking away.
Alex is near to wits’ end with Kincaid, but the thought of losing all of those hours and money from wasted wood forces them to keep working with him… for now.
Doctor Laird -
Doctor Laird is a well-to-do physician from Denver, visiting to fill in for a colleague at a local practice. Laird has left behind their spouse and child in Denver while they tend to their task.
Laird has always been a devoted doctor who cares for their patients after their parents were killed in a train derailment on H&F railroad.
They found The Painted Lady after being called to the Sawmill because of an accident and needed a drink afterward to unwind. It’s become a regular stop after a stressful day.
The Painted Lady is where Laird and Kincaid met but that was no accident, Laird is here for Kincaid.
Two years ago, Kincaid seduced Laird’s daughter, Samantha, with sweet talk and fancy gifts, offering promises of a future together that never materialized. Samantha was so distraught, believing her entire world crashed around her, she attempted suicide and ended up in an asylum in Pueblo.
Laird has sworn vengeance, tracking down Kincaid, using her colleague’s absence as a perfect ruse to be in town.
Hightower, the Card Shark -
Hightower is a card shark of the highest skill level, and an even better cheat. They’ve worked their way westward, always leaving town just before they run out their victims.
They’ve been in Albuquerque for about 6 months, exhausting all of the games they can find, and eventually found their way to The Painted Lady, where they set up shop, for now.
Kincaid joined the game periodically, and always beat Hightower, which drives them mad. Hightower is good, real good, but Kincaid is either better, or is out-cheating the master, neither possibility of which Hightower can abide.
Each time they play, Hightower tries to figure out how he does it, but is slowly reaching the end of their rope, and their time in town.
Hightower has an overwhelming drive to beat Kincaid, or beat the answer out of him. Raskin, the Smith
Raskin was an employee of H&F railroad up until a month ago when Kincaid issued a number of layoffs. Raskin worked in the machine shop, replacing and repairing parts of the locomotives.
Raskin is the sole provider for their family and has struggled to find work since the layoffs.
They’ve been a long-time patron of the Painted Lady after doing some work at the Sawmill, where they met Alex. Alex sometimes needs metalwork for their furniture, and Raskin is more than happy to provide, especially now. Raskin and Alex have commiserated together over Kincaid’s actions, and Raskin would love to do something to knock him down a peg or two if given the opportunity.
